CHOCOLATE TEST

An abacus test was organised on 22nd and 23rd of September for Saturday batch students of 

JAWAHAR NAGAR CENTRE, Jaipur . The test was divided into different categories depending upon the age and term level of the students.

The reward was CHOCOLATES for the first three prize winners.

The time limit to complete the sheet was 10 minutes. And sheets were divided into both abacus and non- abacus ( mental ) categories. The main initiative behind the test was boosting the moral of students and creation of a drill exercise for upcoming State -

levels and National levels students.

Abacus Brain Gym - UC MAS Jawhar Nagar

The abacus has been a tool for maths calculations for over thousands of years. It has survived the test of time because it works. Apart from its calculator functions it develops the brain as well. 

Calculations on abacus are faster than calculator and it permanently changes the working methodology of brain by sharpening it and activating both the Left side and Right side of the brain.

Normal school method teaches calculating maths on calculator or sheets of paper! But UCMAS teaches kids to calculate in their minds at a much faster rate.

While other kids toil with tedious maths calculations on paper, UCMAS students are mentally calculating and finishing test, homework and assignments early. Not to mention reading skills improve as well. 

There are many new names spread across the market that claim on teaching abacus and making kids perfect in mathematics. But this is a less known fact that mere teaching of abacus with no help in applying it in school maths or other studies is of no use!

UCMAS is the only abacus system that teaches the application of abacus to school curriculum. Example:

ABACUS COMPETITION

 Centre level competition for I & II Term students

Centre level competition was organised at Jawahar Nagar centre for  BASIC CATEGORY students.

The idea behind the competition was to give students a glimpse of the grand competitions organised at Rajasthan and India levels.

Students competed with each other to complete the 'Z' level sheet with 150 sums.

Rishika Sahu ( winner of Z1 category , Rajasthan competition 2013) was the first one to complete the sheet.

'Girls are always the best ' : this was proved when two girls emerged 

as I prize winners.

WHY UC MAS for mental maths?

Inspiring children's aptitude with numbers:
UCMAS programs train children’s minds for whole brain development, using the Abacus as a tool and Mental Math as a medium. The Abacus is used to teach the children to understand:

• Base-ten number system
• Number concepts and numeric relationships
• Place values
• Carrying and borrowing
• Combinations and complements of numbers

Combining mental and motor movements:
When children use both hands to manipulate beads of Abacus, there is quick communication between their hands and brain that stimulates both right and left hemispheres of the brain. Abacus/Mental Math reckoning process combines integrated thinking and motoring functions from both sides of the brain, so the left hemisphere (logical side) stirs virtual abacus image on the right hemisphere (abstract side).Training to harness brain power:
UCMAS program influences the child's brain development in various ways:

• Mental picture training (visualization) boosts memory power, as the children practice holding the number in their mind while operating the physical or mental abacus.
• Flash cards are used to enhance the visuals and help the children memorize the pictures. By the end of the UCMAS program they have 450,000 images stored in their memory.
• The speed training prompts the children to respond to questions quickly. And the speed oral training encourages the children to listen attentively, which forces them to focus and concentrate.
• As the children become more familiar with the technique, they become certain of the answer, which in turn, builds their confidence and self-esteem.

Speed is of the essence:
By activating both sides of the brain, children can achieve calculation speed previously only possible by math geniuses. Children learn to subtract by adding; learn to multiply without multiplying; and learn to perform long division problems in their head faster than most people can add two numbers together.
